The Transportation Team promotes such statewide policies as:

• Transportation Electrification (TE) from micro-mobility options to passenger vehicles, and to light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks; and the charging infrastructure to power these new fleets along with a clean electric power supply;
• Strategies for Reducing Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) through mode-shifting to public transit or non-emitting active transportation like biking and pedestrian and rail transportation, including promoting broader and more frequent and affordable public transit options;
• Land Use Rule Changes to gradually convert our communities to hubs with affordable residential, commercial, employment, and cultural centers all in walking or biking proximity to each other;
• Clean(er) Fuels Programs to transition transportation fuels off traditional fossil fuels to clean(er) fuels and to zero-emitting fuels as the technology catches up; and
• A Restructured Transportation Funding System that incentivizes non-fossil-fuel and less car-centric modes of travel, implements true congestion pricing, relieves the transportation burden of vulnerable populations; and promotes more active transportation options.

Our main focus is on statewide policy, but federal and local projects and funding issues are so intertwined that the lines between levels can be blurred. We advocate for these changes through direct contacts with legislators, through supporting proposed bills, and through networking with allied organizations. Over the last several years, we have weighed in to support cleaning up our electric grid with HB 2021; worked to “Right Size! Right Now!” the Interstate Bridge Replacement Project; commented on Clean Fuels rule-making; defended the Climate-Friendly and Equitable Communities rules; endorsed a major school district school bus federal grant-funding application, and fought to supplement the electric vehicle incentive funds when they ran out, including arguing to provide them for e-bikes and scooters.
